The locomotive has been designed for light and semi-heavy shunting and light interchange trains.

The mechanical two-stage gear offers a high starting tractive effort for shunting purposes, while the high maximum speed of the locomotive during line service considerably facilitates interchange services on main lines, too.

The adjustable constant speed control and the optional radio remote control facilitate continuous loading and unloading processes, shunting service in the area of washing plants as well as the shunting process from shunting hill.

Another field of application is the transportation of light cargo trains and the traction of work trains.
