G 1206
Four-axle, diesel-hydraulic locomotive for line and heavy shunting service. The G 1206 multi-purpose diesel locomotive forms the basis of Vossloh Locomotives’ range of centre-cab locomotives. This highly robust vehicle has become the standard locomotive of German industrial and private railways.
More than one hundred G 1206s have been built and are currently providing reliable service in nine European countries. As a truly European locomotive, it is regularly involved in cross-border traffic, mainly between Germany, France and the Netherlands.
The G 1206 was developed for heavy shunting service, above all in industrial companies. The locomotive is equipped with a specifically adapted, lower-output engine whose tractive power was optimised to suit the low speed range. All remaining locomotive components are identical in construction to the much tried-and-tested G 1206. The large number of identical parts provides for considerable savings during training, operation and maintenance.
